Physical Therapy
CNS-based rehabilitation — treating the nervous system, not just the injury.
What Makes Our Approach Different
Most physical therapy treats the injured tissue — the joint, the muscle, the surgical site. Our physical therapy program is central nervous system (CNS)-based, which means we also treat how the brain and nervous system are processing movement, balance, pain, and coordination after an injury, concussion, or period of chronic pain. This matters because the nervous system often keeps protecting, guarding, or miscommunicating long after the original tissue has healed — and that's frequently why symptoms persist even after imaging looks normal.
This CNS-based approach is what allows us to treat conditions that a typical physical therapy clinic isn't equipped for — vestibular disorders, post-concussion dizziness, balance dysfunction, and chronic pain that has become centralized in the nervous system — alongside the more familiar orthopedic and post-surgical rehabilitation every PT clinic offers.
Who We Treat
Patients with vestibular disorders — dizziness, vertigo, and balance dysfunction
Patients recovering from concussion or traumatic brain injury
Patients with chronic pain that has become centralized or amplified by the nervous system
Patients recovering from orthopedic injury, surgery, or accident-related trauma
Patients working through a personal injury or workers' compensation claim
What a Typical Program Looks Like
Every program starts with a thorough evaluation specific to your condition — vestibular and balance testing for dizziness-related concerns, functional movement assessment for orthopedic injuries, or a combination of both when the two overlap, which happens often after a concussion or serious accident. From there, we build a progressive plan and reassess regularly, adjusting as your nervous system and tissue adapt.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does "CNS-based" physical therapy actually mean?
It means we evaluate and treat how your nervous system is processing movement, balance, and pain signals, not just the injured tissue itself — which is essential for conditions like dizziness, post-concussion symptoms, and chronic pain.
Do I need a referral to start physical therapy?
In many cases no, though we're happy to coordinate with any physician or specialist involved in your care.
Is this the same as a typical orthopedic PT clinic?
We do provide standard orthopedic and post-surgical rehabilitation, but we also treat a range of neurological and vestibular conditions most PT clinics aren't set up to address.
